Scheme of Studies for the Intermediate Examination

Subjects of Study

A) Compulsory Subjects

1. Urdu or Bengali
  a. There shall be two papers carrying 100 marks each.
  b. Students whose mother tongue is Bengali will have the option to take an Alternative Easy Course in Urdu.
  c. Students who are not Pakistani Nationals will have the option to take either an alternative easy course in Urdu OR a Course of study in Pakistani Culture.


2. English 200 Marks
  There shall be two papers carrying 100 marks each
3. Islamic Education 50 Marks
  There will be one paper carrying 50 marks.
4. Pakistan Studies 50 Marks
  There will be one paper carrying 50 marks.
5. Civics (for non-Muslims) 50 Marks
  There will be one paper carrying 50 marks.  


B) Elective Subjects
Three or more elective subjects comprising 6 papers of 100 marks each shall be taken from one of the following Groups; provided that if a subject comprises two papers, both the papers shall be taken together.
C-Non-examination Compulsory subjects
1. Physical Education
2. Civil Defence
3. Manual Work

Every candidate from a recognized Institution shall be required to follow the prescribed course of Physical Education and Civil Defence and also to undertake prescribed Manual Work as condition of eligibility to take the examination. There will, however, be no formal examination in these subjects.
